John Waldron, President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Michigan Bank & Trust (SMBT), has announced the promotion of Kevin Twardy to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Twardy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. He joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2023 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining Southern, Twardy served as Chief Financial Officer for Commercial National Financial Corporation in Ithaca, Michigan. He also brings extensive financial services experience, beginning his career as a financial institution auditor with Ernst & Young before serving nearly three decades as Chief Financial Officer for several successful Michigan community banks.

Twardy resides in Coldwater and is actively involved in the local community, regularly participating in bank-sponsored events and community initiatives.
