NICK GRABOWSKI
Executive Vice President Chief Lending Officer
Nick has been a member of the commercial lending team since 2003. He received his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University where he majored in finance. Nick then continued his training by completing the American Banker's Association's Commercial Lending School program in Dallas, Texas. Nick is focused on developing new client relationships while continuing to serve his existing customer base. Under his leadership, our commercial lending team maintains a strong credit and lending philosophy. Nick also serves as a member of the Coldwater Exchange Club and is a board member of the Community Bankers of Michigan.
SARAH HEADLEY
First Vice President Commercial Loan Manager
Sarah joined our Commercial Lending team in 2008, and has been working in the financial industry for over 16 years. Sarah attended Central Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance. Sarah also earned her Master's degree in Business Administration from Walsh College. Sarah is heavily involved in her community serving on the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club since 2011. She has served on the Rotary Board of Directors for over 5 years, and is a recent Past President. Sarah consistently focuses on developing new client relationships while effectively servicing the needs of current customers in the Branch and Hillsdale areas.
DOUG KIESSLING
Regional Vice President Commercial Loan Manager
Doug joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 1999, bringing 6 years of prior commercial lending experience to the team. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hillsdale College. He is well versed in lending to the commercial real estate, manufacturing, service and agricultural industries. Doug’s responsibilities include all functions related to commercial loan activity and business development for the Calhoun County region.
TOM SWOISH
Regional Vice President Commercial Loan Manager
Tom joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2000, bringing a broad range of commercial banking experience and expertise. Tom started his commercial lending career in 1987 with First of America Bank and gained further experience at 1st Source Bank before joining our team. He earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees from Michigan State University and is a Dale Carnegie graduate. Tom’s responsibilities include all functions related to commercial loan activity and business development for the St. Joseph County region.
Bill Jors
Senior Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Bill joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in June 2022, coming to us with over 30 years of experience in Jackson community banking. Bill earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Spring Arbor College in 1990. Bill previously served as the Mayor of the City of Jackson from 2016 to 2017. He continues heavy public service within the community.
GABE ALVEZ
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Gabe joined SMBT in 2019 as a Vice President Business Development Officer and transitioned to Vice President Commercial Lending Officer in 2021. Gabe began his career in 2012 with JP Morgan Chase, N.A. as a Licensed Relationship Banker. He completed the Business & Commercial Lending certification program through the American Bankers Association. Gabe serves in a variety of community organizations; he is an Ambassador for the Sturgis Area Community Chamber, Board President and Coach of the Sturgis Youth Soccer Organization, City of Sturgis Planning Commissioner, City of Sturgis Employee Retirement Committee Member, Sturgis Area Community Foundation Review Committee Member, Sturgis Hospital Board Member, Finance Council Member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, and he is a member of Exchange Club. Gabe has four children and enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.
DEB DAVIS
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Deb joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2007, coming to us from County National Bank where she served as second Vice President and Branch Officer. She earned her MBA from Western Michigan University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Spring Arbor College. Deb is located in the Battle Creek market and specializes in commercial loans.
RACHEL DOTY
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Rachel joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2014, bringing 17 years of prior banking experience with her. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration and Marketing from Hillsdale College and has personally owned and operated her own business. Rachel is located in the Hillsdale market and handles both commercial and agricultural loans.
COREY DONNER
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Corey has been a part of Southern’s team since 2010, beginning as a credit analyst and becoming a commercial loan officer in 2015. He is a graduate of Ferris State University with a B.S. in Business Administration and minor in Finance. Corey has a strong comprehension of real estate investments and commercial financing. Corey is located in the Branch County and St. Joseph markets, and focuses on building relationships by helping customers attain their goals while providing exceptional customer service.
ADAM LOSINSKI
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
In 2012, Adam joined our commercial lending team. He began his career in 2008 with Southern Michigan Bank & Trust as a commercial credit analyst. He received his bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University. He enjoys working with commercial and agricultural businesses to meet their financing needs.
KARA MEAD
Vice President Branch Manager
Commercial Loan Officer
Kara joined our commercial lending team in 2015, bringing over nineteen years of banking experience with her. She studied Business Management and has been the recipient of several banking awards recognizing her excellent customer service skills, sales growth and profitability, and leadership in employee management. Kara’s commercial lending focus is in the Calhoun County market.
GREG MILLER
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Greg joined the commercial lending team in 2013 after spending the previous 23 years in both public and private accounting. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Michigan University. Greg’s responsibilities include focusing on developing new customer relationships and assisting with existing customers needs.
JIM SOBESKE
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Jim joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2010 and has over 35 years of extensive banking experience primarily in the commercial banking arena. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Western Michigan University with an emphasis in Finance. Jim proactively helps customers reach their goals. He has served in a variety of community organizations and is currently the Chair of the Branch County Redevelopment Authority.

JUSTIN HORN
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
Justin earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from Western Michigan University and comes to Southern with extensive lending experience over fourteen years. He lives in Portage with his family, where he is active in coaching his girls’ softball teams, as well as coaching KOHA travel hockey. He serves as president of the Portage Community Center, and is a member of Kalamazoo Communities in Schools, and SWM Professional Networking Group.
DAVID KREGER
Vice President Commercial Loan Officer
David Kreger brings with him over 40 years of experience in commercial lending and mortgage originations. Most recently, Kreger was Regional Vice President at County National Bank. Leading up to his career in commercial lending, he also worked in consumer lending, loan operations, collections, and was a branch manager. A lifelong Jacksonian, Kreger started working at his first bank when he was a junior at Jackson High School.

Mike Jors has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Southern, Jors was Vice President/Private Bank and Retail Development with County National Bank. Additionally, he served as Vice President/Business Relationship Manager II with Fifth Third Bank, Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager and Commercial Lender with Huntington Bank, and Branch Manager with Citizens Bank. Jors holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
