Meet the Advisors


For over 85 years, our department has assisted individuals, estates and trusts to navigate the complex Federal and State regulations and tax laws.  But, an ever growing portion of our business is to assist our customers with financial planning and individual investing to accomplish their individual goals and objectives.  Meet our advisors that can assist you in todayís ever changing financial markets.

  

Mary Guthrie

MARY L. GUTHRIE

EXPERIENCE:  Mary began her banking career in 1980 and has extensive experience in trust and estate administration, business development, estate planning and financial planning.

EDUCATION:  Bachelorís Degree in Business Administration from Spring Arbor College.

PROFESSIONAL:  Graduate of Cannon Financial Institute and maintains a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor Designation.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:  Maryís community involvement currently includes being a member of the Community Health Center Foundationís Planned Gifts committee, a member of the CHC Home Health and Hospice Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the Community Health Centerís Community Advisors Group.  She is a member of Altrusa International of Branch County, a local service club. Prior positions include serving on the fundraising committee for the Lucille E Dearth Union Township Library and a member of the Branch County Habitat for Humanity.

EXPERIENCE:  Dave joined Southern in 2007 after practicing as a CPA for 30 years.  He has been security licensed since 1999.

EDUCATION:  Bachelorís Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from Central Michigan University.

PROFESSIONAL:  Holds Series 6, 7, and 66 security licenses along with his certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

COMMUNITY SERVICE:  Daveís community involvement currently includes being a board member of the CHC Foundation, a commissioner of the City of Coldwater Planning Commission and a trustee of the American Baptist Churches of Michigan Endowment Fund.  For over the past twenty five years, Dave has been the chairman of the Al Clyne Coldwater Exchange Club 9th Grade Basketball Invitational Tournament.  Prior positions include President and Board member of the Coldwater Exchange Club, President and Treasurer of the Coldwater Country Club and President of the Coldwater Cardinal Athletic Booster Club.

EXPERIENCE:  Susan began her banking career in 1982, joining Southern in 2004, and has over 20 years experience in trust and estate administration and employee benefit plan administration.  She is a lifelong resident of Coldwater.

PROFESSIONAL:  Graduate of Cannon Financial Institute in personal trust administration. Extensive training in Trust Operations and IRA Administration.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Susan currently serves on the Board of Directors of Altrusa International of Branch County and has been a member of the club since 2002. 

 

  

Jean Winans

EXPERIENCE:  Jean began her career with the bank, formerly known as First National Bank of Three Rivers in 1978.  She has extensive experience in trust and estate administration, estate planning as well as financial planning.  She is a lifelong resident of Three Rivers.

PROFESSIONAL: Graduated from Cannon Financial Instituteís Trust School for trust operations as a certified trust operations specialist and later completed Cannonís course in advanced trust administration.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Jean is a life-long resident of Three Rivers, an active member of the community, and has assisted in various fundraising efforts.
