FNB Financial is now Southern Michigan Bank and Trust

Change is coming – and change is good
Southern Michigan Bank & Trust has filed a request with the FDIC to unite FNB Financial with Southern under a single charter and a single name: Southern Michigan Bank & Trust.
What does this change mean for me?
Other than the new name, you will see no difference when you walk into the bank. All of our branches will continue to operate at their current locations, offering great products and the excellent service for which we are currently known. You’ll see all the same friendly faces. We still intend to support the business and philanthropic projects we have always supported in the community. As a customer of FNB Financial, no action is required on your part.
Why are you making this change?
Since our two banks merged in December 2007, we have been operating with two separate charters – that means many of our expenses are doubled. Operating under a single charter will allow us to reduce expenses significantly and to operate more efficiently.
Why does the FNB name have to disappear?
When banks merge and unite under a single charter, banking regulations make it very difficult to use separate names. We recognize that the FNB name has been part of this community for more than a century. While we understand and appreciate the strength of the FNB franchise, the cost savings and efficiencies we expect to achieve were too substantive to bypass.
